    Walking down a busy street, carefully watching and always wondering as to why someone would choose such an ugly and gaudy creation that we call the handbag. Now don't get me wrong, walking down the street were a lot of great looking hand bags.

   Handbags are fashion and they can make or break your fashion look. Choosing the right handbag is all about you, your look, what you want to create and how it affects your lifestyle.

   The right handbag for you has to be both functional and attractive as well it should provide a level of style that can be worn with a number of fashion looks.

Questions to ask when buying an everyday Handbag:

• Is it big enough to hold everything but not so big that it looks like you're going away for the weekend?
• Is it sturdy enough to hold up to daily wear?
• Is your handbag of a color that will go with most of what you may find yourself wearing.
• Functional considerations it would include questions like, will lit stay on your shoulder? Is the strap too short or too slippery? Put it on and try running around a little to see what happens during normal activity.
• Is it bigger in the interior than the opening, so that it's like digging around in a fishbowl to find your keys?
• Can you zip or snap the handbag closed for security when around small, curious children or in big potentially pickpocket-obscuring crowds?
• Are there enough pockets for the things you access regularly, or will you need some kind of insert to organize the contents? 
• And a real good consideration is this a handbag  you can see yourself living with day in and day out?

   Of course this isn't a one size or one style of handbag that fits every occasion. Depending on the occasion you will choose a different style, so consider the following suggestions. 

• Formal event: tiny clutch.
• Business meeting: leather briefcase or carryall.
• Dinner date: smallish leather or metallic bag
• On normal outings: choose a cloth or leather shoulder bag with accessible pockets for diapers/toys/tissues etc.

Underwear Security vs Freedom

I picked up a real neat book on Fashion when I was on holidays. I will share with you some portions that I found interesting and of course helpful for the fashion shopper. Sorry for not posting in the last little while as I have been enjoying the company of my wonderful Grand Children. Well lets get started.

   It is said that as in life, when it comes to underwear, you have to make the choice between security and freedom.

   This is certainly the story of the corset, an object that shows up in various forms in many different cultures and has been a lightning rod for various notions of what women's bodies should look like.

   The usual take on today is that they symbolize the oppression of women. At the costume departments of museums, we gawk at the tiny waists and the intricate structuring of these garments. We imagine that in times when women were more restricted, as in Victorian England, corseting was tightest, and when women were more liberated, as in the 1920s, it was the loosest.

   Interesting as it is we have both a combination of fashion underwear apparel that can be both tight fitting in the form of modern day shape wear as well we have underwear that can be loose fitting. And of course the corset is available today for those women who enjoy that type of garment.
